Great location right up the street from the East Balmain ferry stop, and the views from the street when you walk down to the ferry. Wow. Pity the food wasn’t up to par & it was expensive $52 for an Angus steak. They had live music on a Sunday which was pleasant. This place is great to have a beer on a Sunday afternoon in the beer garden.
Nice location, food ok but perhaps avoid the cocktails. $22 a cocktail I'd expect better. This is how coffee Martini and an Old Fashioned came out.
We held our work Christmas party here and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. At $40 per head, ordering from the functions menu was an absolute treat. The food was great quality and there was more than enough to comfortably cater for our group of 35. Communication in the lead-up was excellent as well — emails were answered quickly and everything was easy to organise. We’d happily recommend this venue for a function and would definitely return.
Lovely pub, amazing food. The Tuesday night steak special was great value and the food was incredible. Atmosphere like you don't get in many Sydney pubs anymore. First time back in a long time, my next visit will be much sooner.
Not one to leave reviews but we had an interesting experience at the east village hotel this last week. We were sat inside the restaurant as we anticipated a nice dinner (by recommendation) but the service we received was shocking. When we walked in there was no acknowledgment of us. We sat in the restaurant for 10 minutes before someone even came up to greet us, when they did they said “do you want a menu?” We obviously did as we were sitting in the restaurant. The waiter then came over with only one menu and no drinks menu. When we asked for a second menu as there were four of us, the waiter said “we only have one right now”. The restaurant was empty. They said you can order drinks at the bar, so we did. When we came back we waited another 10 minutes for someone to take our order whilst the whole time we were trying to wave staff down and all were quite literally walking around with nothing to do. We asked for some tap water and got nothing for 20 minutes!! When we asked why, we got told because all the tap water bottled are being used? That is not anything to do with us as customers. Once our order was finally taken we were served possibly the worst salt and pepper squid I’ve ever seen and eaten, which also took about 30 minutes to come out. For frozen food? I can’t believe I’m paying for it. Just to top it all off, we ordered a glass of wine from the table and it took so long we went up to the bar to ask why and were told because we don’t have the right glassware for the wine. After waiting 15 minutes for a glass of wine in an empty restaurant and basically empty pub, we were not impressed. We walked out paying $150 for our total night for the worst service and food I’ve had in a LONG time. Terrible. No wonder the pub is empty. Apparently meant to be the resultant part of the pub? Pitiful excuse for a restaurant. Will genuinely never go back.
