We were going to a show at the Entertainment Quarters so booked a table here as its about 7 mins away. Parking was an issue but eventually found a spot. Walking in a side? entrance the pub was very dark & an open area was cold & wet(rain was coming in). Once we got to the dining room it was a pleasant atmosphere, but a bit noisy with many tables already booked & occupied. Tables were close to each other. We ordered a drink while waiting for meals. Bar staff were friendly & fast. The meal was ok- fish & chips on par with any pub.. not a big serving. Lamb cutlets & gravy were beautiful but plate half full of lettuce mix! Powder potato was edible, but its mot hard to cook 'real' potatoes. We all felt prices were a bit high for what we got, but remembering we were in Sydney, near entertainment & sports areas. Staff were pleasant & clearing tables constantly. Probably wouldn't go back for a meal & we didnt really see the bar area, so no comment on that.
Amazing quality steaks. I was blown away on the flavour that was in the steak. Sides were fantastic too. The atmosphere was very good, a nice old school theme and the staff were very friendly. Great work on the team.
I had the wonderful opportunity to come to Australia for a month for work and stay in Bondi Junction. With this place being right up the road, I become a frequent flyer. The dinner and lunch specials, happy hour and atmosphere truly sold me. I went to the Nelson at least four times a week for a month straight. I was always met with kindness, great food, fast served drinks and incredible crowd. I’m glad to know I’ve found this gem in Bondi! Would 100% recommend! My favorite was either Wednesdays for lamb chops or Fridays for the raffle!
First I have to say I’m giving 3 stars thanks to the service, otherwise it will be a 2 . The staff is nice and friendly. However, the food it’s quite average, the prices do not match the quality of the food. I went on a Friday night, we ordered two sirloin steaks, and the meat was hard and tasteless. The sauce had an old taste. The fries were doubled fried and oily. We visit different pubs on a weekly basis and we had better meals for half of the price. I will recommend it for drinks, but definitely not for food.
Great friendly staff, beautiful atmosphere. Love the long wooden tables & fire place like in the ye ol days. Had the chicken schnitty burger, pretty good. Good to see chips with a crunch. Today I had the deboned panco crumbed chicken wings, bloody beautiful, best wings I've had in a long time.
