Visited on Easter Saturday for an early family dinner. Despite some patchy weather, the venue was clearly in high demand—every table was reserved, and there was a steady crowd inside. A great sign of a popular local spot. Pros: -Stylish, well-refurbished space with a great atmosphere -Strong service—attentive and accommodating -Quality food overall, with some standout dishes -Appeals to a wide mix of guests (families through to younger groups) The setting is a standout. The pub has been tastefully refurbished, creating a warm, social atmosphere that feels equally suited to families, groups of friends, or a slightly more polished night out. We were seated in the enclosed terrace, which worked beautifully—when the sun came out, the windows were opened to let in a fresh breeze. We started with drinks in the bar area. The Commodore Spritz was a highlight—fresh, slightly sweet, and perfect if you enjoy something light and bubbly. The Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned also went down well. Food was solid, well-executed pub fare. The lobster slider and scotch fillet steak were both excellent. The pizzas were also well received and quickly finished by the family. Service was a real strength. Staff were friendly and proactive, and particularly accommodating when we asked for the roof louvres to be closed as our food arrived. Would happily return—this feels like the kind of local you’d visit regularly if you lived nearby.

We had a fantastic experience at the Old Commodore Hotel in North Sydney. The service was excellent — friendly, attentive, and incredibly quick with our order. Our meals were spot‑on: the pork cutlet was cooked beautifully and full of flavour, and the Caesar salad was fresh and delicious. We visited on a Sunday with around 15 people in our group and were treated to a brilliant live musician playing in the background, which added a great atmosphere without being overpowering. A really enjoyable afternoon all round. Highly recommend for good food, great service, and a relaxed Sunday vibe.

The Old Commodore Hotel has a scrumptious zucchini pizza is which is beautifully presented. Furthermore the fit out of the restaurant is charming and full of artefacts to admire. Highly recommend.

I had a fantastic experience dining here and would happily recommend it to others. The food was absolutely amazing—every dish we tried was packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and presented beautifully. You can really tell that a lot of care goes into both the ingredients and the preparation. The service was equally impressive. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. They were quick to help with anything we needed without being overbearing, which really added to the overall experience. The atmosphere was also very enjoyable, earning a solid 4/5. It had a great vibe that made it comfortable to relax and enjoy the meal, whether you’re out for a casual dinner or something a bit more special. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience with amazing food and excellent service. I’d definitely come back again.

Staying in North Sydney for the night, dinner and happy hour was the go at the Old Commodore Hotel. Happy hour was a very convincing reason to visit this fine establishment. A touch of old Queensland pubs by the beer taps attached to the rear wall of the bar. And i mean the bar downstairs. Enjoy free snacks available in the pokies section which adjoins a small smoking area for those that indulge. Meals are good as we enjoyed pie and mash but light on the mushy peas. Hamburgers come with a generous portion of chips that can be liberated by a slight slight of hand. Mintie the barperson knows all about the difference between trotters and pacers so dont be afraid to ask. An excellent choice for a quiet night out.
