We are doing a Sydney roast tour (not on the same day!) and have been to loads now across Balmain, Rozelle, Surry Hills, and the Eastern Suburbs. This one takes the wooden spoon. The worst by a mile. Remove this from your roast list entirely. I swear the pork slices tasted like they came out the freezer and were heated up on the griddle. They had griddle marks on the slices (check photo). The potatoes were boiled I think. Yorkshire was chewy. Peas were ok! I assume the owner doesn't get out much, so to try and help: pop out one Sunday to The Welcome, East Balmain Hotel, The Forrester’s, or the Glebe Hotel. Anywhere else, really.
Had a long lunch here yesterday (group of 4). First ever visit. Extremely impressed. We were seated on the wide verandah that overlooks Norton Street. Great spot. The pub itself is awesome—so many different areas to enjoy and book if you’re wanting to hold an event or small gathering. It’s fresh, clean and modern. We all enjoyed our meals; Chicken Parmigiana, Fish & Chips, Barramundi & Beef Ragu pasta. Excellent selection on the menu to choose from. We were lucky to be there on Friday and also enjoyed their $2 Sydney Rock Oyster Friday Special. They were delicious and at a great price. Normally $7 each here, which is the usual price for Sydney—what a bargain. Our waitress was exceptional; very friendly, efficient and cheerful. Would highly recommend this venue and we will definitely be back. Please keep the oyster special going. 😁
What a cracking pub! Haven’t been there since the late 90’s and early 2000’s It was our mid week “Wednesday Pub Date” so a bit quiet. It was also a 37*C day Food was fantastic. $1 wings for entree - tick Parmy for me - tick Jerked chicken for the wife - tick (something different) Cold pints Balter XPA - tick Pub is lovely. Lots of different places to sit. Decor is wonderful. Here we were thinking “let’s go to somewhere close just to beat the heat” and we scored a jackpot! Definitely be going back Sorry - have to add, your staff are first class
Lovely local pub with a fantastic balcony for outdoor dining 🍻 Good food, great drinks, HEAPS of space. Good for a group gathering. Best seating is upstairs, not wheelchair-accessible.
We had an enjoyable night. The meat raffle is good fun 😁 even though I didn't win. Prices for drinks are fair with prompt service. A great venue to watch sports. The menu is standard pub stuff with other interesting dishes, however done well.
