This pub is beautiful in its decor and so clean. Very appealing for a location to have a drink and something to eat. We had dinner here tonight. The initial service from the barmaids for our drinks was fantastic. However, a little upset by the fact that I specifically asked for my starter to come out first and leave some time before the mains. The complete opposite occurred we got everything together and the starter was brought to the table after our mains. I even mentioned it to the waitress and she did apologise but ideally said we didn't know . Maybe a little improvement on communication. The food was nice but was sadly put off by the fact that we had to rush it all to keep it all of reasonable edible temperature. Not to mention the incorrect bottle of wine was delivered to the table but we just accepted without complaint.
What a fabulous night doing trivia at the union. Great atmosphere, good food and as always outstanding service. Pub was packed. The union is going from strength to strength under new management and with Robyn at the helm. Highly recommend but don't forget to book for trivia as it's popular and rightly so - Sam is awesome.
Had it been to the union Hotel for 40 years. Stating the obvious things have changed, And that for the better. Love the decor. Staff are very friendly. Both are upstairs and downstairs areas to eat. Do you love pubs that have photographs/images on the wall. Great time The background music wasn’t too loud, making conversation easy.
Basic pub and pub grub but my last few experiences weren’t good, quantity of food was down and prices up. It is summer now, not sure why they still have “winter bowl” on the menu. They have everyday specials. Nothing extraordinary. The only thing I enjoyed are 6 jalapeño poppers for 15$
The union used to be my favorite pub, a classic go-to after work for years, cheap, tasty beers and delicious food. However, recently the establishment has clearly been going downhill and doesn't deserve my money anymore. In the past 6 months we've seen price increases by 30%, food restrictions, popular beers removed from the taps and fantastic deals faded out of existence. I can confidently, and sadly, say I will have to find a new pub.
