We visited as a group of 13 and had a mixed experience. The beer selection was great and the pub itself has a really nice atmosphere, which we all enjoyed. Unfortunately, the service let it down. Whilst sharing a drink outside in the garden, we were very abruptly informed that we weren’t allowed to stand, this experience made us feel unwelcome from the very start. Unfortunately this experience continued, particularly with an American female bartender who huffed and rolled her eyes at my partner for asking for a taster of a tap beer. Overall, the staff seemed unhappy and unwelcoming, maybe their messages could have been communicated better. Food wise, the burger I ordered looked fantastic when it arrived, but the taste didn’t live up to the presentation at all. After working at a wagyu restaurant for a number of years, I also strongly suspect the patty wasn’t actually wagyu as advertised. A lot of potential here with the beer and setting, but better service and more honest food quality would make a big difference.

After visiting the nearby art galleries, we were looking for a nice place to stop for a casual aperitif, and The Village Inn in Paddington turned out to be a good choice. The terrace immediately stood out: very sunny, spacious, and welcoming. Despite being in a central area, the location on a street corner works in its favour. You’re not overly disturbed by traffic, either in terms of noise or fumes, which makes sitting outside genuinely comfortable. With the sun hitting the terrace directly and good weather on our side, it was a very pleasant place to relax. We kept it simple with food and drinks: fried calamari, fries, a beer, and a cocktail. Straightforward choices, but everything was well prepared and tasty. Even though the venue was quite busy, service was efficient and we didn’t have to wait long, which definitely added to the experience. Price-wise, it sits in the usual range for this type of bar in Australia, maybe slightly on the higher side, but still reasonable and consistent with the area. Overall, it’s a well-run bar that delivers exactly what you expect. A comfortable setting, decent food and drinks, and a good atmosphere. We had a good time and would happily stop by again in similar circumstances.

Came here to have a Sunday roast and watch the F1. Amazing Sunday dinner. Large Yorkshire was the highlight. Good venue with balcony.

At first this was enjoyable experience the person at the bar was very friendly and enthusiastic but the other staff didn’t seem interested one bit in customers and would rather chat amongst themselves. The burger I had was very average for the price kinda tasted like nothing… and the (I think) American lady was rude
