The hype around Baba's Place is very real, it's one of Sydney's more unique dining experiences and the food is amazing! Visited on a Saturday night before an event in the area and sat at the kitchen counter, and excellent spot to watch the chefs at work. I went with the set menu, which I'd recommend if you're a first timer as you get to try eight different items, you can also add on extras so I added their signature tarama toast. The drinks menu is extensive with an impressive variety of non-alcoholic options. Service was warm and welcoming. Will definitely be back!

Literally a “baba’s place” with unique decorations, hourly incense and generous portions of food. The only reason for 4 stars is that the entrees were so insanely good, that the mains didn’t quite catch up to the expectations. Not saying the mains weren’t good, they were just overshadowed by the entrees which were too good (tamara on toast is a must!) Unfortunately they had outdone themselves with the entrees, now they must come up with some ridiculously good main dishes too.

Loved the whole vibe. The details of the interior decors like the tables the chairs the seating area - touches of vintage furnishings all around including in the toilets. The set menu was amazing well worth the $92 we paid for each person. Eleni our server was friendly and pleasant.

Pretty cool deco and I enjoyed the vibe they were going for. Mis-matched chairs (not super comfortable unfortunately), cups and plates etc. Loved the upcycling concept. Given the upcycling, I'd say it's a pretty cheap setup compared to other restaurant fit outs. Unfortunately, the savings in the decor aren't passed down to the menu prices. We went there to celebrate a friend's birthday - a group of six. We were told given our group size (6??), we HAD to go for the $92 set menu. We were not told that when the reservation was made. The tamara on toast is supposed to be one of the hero dishes here, but guess what, the set menu doesn't include it...an annoying way to upsell a dish. I have to say for the price, the food was not worth it. The return on taste was pretty poor. If I had to pick a dish that was tasty was the house yoghurt. Service was pretty average. The servers mumbled what the order was and walked off during each course. Not a $92pp service I'd say.

Baba’s Place was such a fun spot — the whole place has so much personality and doesn’t feel like your average restaurant. The vibe is cosy, quirky and nostalgic, and the food is creative and distinctive. Tarama on Toast Cucumber salad ⭐️ House yogurt ⭐️ Beef Tartare Lamp Chop Toasted Butter Rice ⭐️
