Culinary experience you must try! Lately when eating out i have found various experiences very muted. Given the COLC i have chosen to pass leaving a review if found it to paint the venue in a negative light for the sake of the business. However from the second the scallop danced on my tastebuds I knew Claret Club was going to buck the trend. Dinned here on a Saturday evening. Super friendly staff and the owners were genuinely warm and present when chatting with us. Scallops - Warm, sweet and the crumbs were some what tangy that left us wanting more Anchovies - Huge. Salty, creamy and busting with flavour Octopus - Crusty and moist. Generous and balanced Baguette - Dense with salty butter. Keep some bread to lap up juices Duck - The serving size was unbelievable. Fatty but clean. Plenty of quince. Potato - A must have. Mature and creamy. Almond Prailine with Rosemary - refreshing and addictive. The Rosemary blend was executed perfectly. If only more places landed like this did. I can agree that the quality and quantity is Exceptional. Will be back.

So new you can still smell the paint but everything else about it is so solid it could have been here for years. The wine list is fabulous and staff are knowledgeable, relaxed & friendly. Get in soon, it’s going to get busy.

Definitely a gem! From the moment you arrive, you can tell this place is something special. The alfresco aperitivo area is such a wonderful touch—perfect for easing into the evening with a drink in a relaxed, stylish setting before heading upstairs. The restaurant on level 1 continues the experience beautifully, with a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. The food is top notch—thoughtfully prepared, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. Service is impeccable, attentive without being intrusive, and the team clearly takes pride in what they do. And the wine… absolutely heavenly. A fantastic selection that perfectly complements the menu and elevates the whole dining experience. A true standout—one of those places you’ll keep coming back to and happily recommend to others.

Second visit for drinks and always super friendly with knowledgeable staff and owners. Clearly it's time we come back for a fall dinner or bar menu at least. What a wonderful entry to the Stanley Street precinct.

Claret offers a sound dining experience in a small but cosy dining room, set within a vibrant neighbourhood. However, the overall execution feels average, and several dishes lack the creativity and attention to detail needed to make the restaurant truly stand out. The scallops and octopus were overcooked and dry, while the duck skin was not crispy enough. The short ribs appeared insufficiently trimmed, leaving too much excess fat. The base of the fritto was lack crunchiness and served a tad cold, and their bread selection was uninspired. The Brussels sprouts were the highlight. The sauce complemented their natural sweetness and slight bitterness without taking away from their satisfying crunch. Other than that, the dinner felt quite average. Overall, Claret has potential, but to become a genuine hotspot in Sydney’s dining scene, it needs more creativity, greater consistency, and sharper execution across the menu.
