We stopped by Damee Chaowei Restaurant and tried their tofu pudding with ginger. The tofu pudding was incredibly silky, smooth, and really enjoyable to eat. The only downside was the ginger syrup—it was a little too mild and lacked the spicy ginger kick we were hoping for. That said, their savoury dishes look reasonably priced and quite tempting, so we'd be happy to come back and give those a try next time.

The food came in generous portions but some of the braised meat was tough and dry. The signature steamed rice rolls had a lot of ingredients inside, but they were kind of just there alongside each other, like the dish was missing a sauce that would bring everything together.

I have tried various versions of century egg & pork congee (皮蛋瘦肉粥) from different restaurants but I particularly like their congee at Damee. They make one big pot of congee every morning and dish out into takeaway containers and sell for $5 each. This is great value for money and the congee is very authentic and generous 真材實料! They don’t use cheap mince but they do use lean pork (sliced) with generous portions of real century eggs. The congee was slow-cooked to perfection in the pot. For only $5, I highly recommend it! Best to get the congee in the morning when it’s hot out of the pot.

They don’t have proper plate and cutlery except for the soup bowl. The duck is nicer, I found the pork hock a bit salty. The seaweed salad is not too crunchy. I love the soy pudding with ginger syrup.
