Downtown Momo in Parramatta has honestly become one of my favourite Nepali restaurants. Everything about the place just feels really well done: the food, the service, the ambience, even the consistency. Every time we’ve gone, the quality has been great. The jhol momo here is seriously something special. It tastes completely different from a lot of other places and in the best way possible. The soup around the momo is packed with flavour and has this rich, comforting taste that keeps you wanting more. You can tell they’ve really perfected their recipe instead of just making a standard version like everywhere else. We also tried the thukpa and honestly, I still don’t know how they make it taste so different from everyone else’s. It’s comforting, full of flavour, and feels really authentic without being too heavy. Even the smaller details, like the freshness of the ingredients and the balance of flavours, stand out. The staff are always lovely and welcoming, and the restaurant itself has a really relaxed and comfortable vibe. It’s the kind of place where you can sit properly, enjoy your food, and actually look forward to coming back. Definitely one of the better Nepali spots around Parramatta for me.
We came here for dinner and it's our first time trying Nepalese food in Sydney. Absolutely love the buff thukpa and chicken jhol momo- so flavourful and comforting with a hint of warming spices. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Would definitely come back when we visit the area next time!
I visited Downtown Momo in Parramatta with a group of four, hoping for a warm atmosphere and authentic Nepali flavors. Unfortunately, the experience was a letdown from the moment we walked in. The customer service was non-existent. We weren't greeted with a hello,hi, namestyor even a simple acknowledgement when we entered. We ended up just picking a random table ourselves. A staff member eventually came over and placed water and four cups on the table, but they didn’t say a single word we were shocked , no greeting, no offer of a menu, nothing. We actually considered leaving immediately, but since we had already paid for street parking and there weren't many other Nepali options nearby, we decided to stay for the food. Being honest food were okay not good as we were expecting lacking Authenticity. We ordered the Veg Jhol Momo, Chilli Chips, Momo Chowmein, and a Chicken Khaja Set. Khaja Set was the biggest disappointment. The taste was very subtle and lacked the punch you expect from a traditional set. i liked Momo Chowmein and chilly chips it wasn't overly oily and had good flavor. I think the food felt adjusted for a multicultural palate rather than staying true to authentic Nepali roots, which is fair enough. Lastly, If you are looking for that "back home" traditional taste, you might be disappointed. But if you after normal spices and person looking for different taste than authentic its a good place to try food. Also, After finishing our meal and paying the bill, the staff didn't say a single word to us. No 'thank you,' no 'how was your food,' not even a 'see you , nothing.' We felt like we were just a transaction rather than guests. It’s a shame because we left feeling completely unwelcome. Additionally, i think Finding a spot is difficult. Expect to circle around and pay for street parking (not sure if there is any free spot parking). If you value hospitality and feeling welcomed, this isn't the place. However, if you don't mind zero interaction with staff, the food is "okay" at best. Definitely, I wouldn't rush back to go there again, sorry. Please Downtown momo Team focus on customer service too.
I recently visited Downtown Momos in Parramatta, a small and cozy shop located near the Parramatta Wharf, and I must say it was such a pleasant surprise. Even though it’s a small place, the food and hospitality truly stand out. If you’re craving authentic Nepali flavours, this is the spot. Their momos are absolutely delicious – fresh, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. You can really taste the authenticity in every bite. The chutneys and sauces are full of flavour and complement the dumplings so well. It feels like proper homemade Nepali food rather than commercial fast food. The staff are very friendly, welcoming, and polite. They make you feel comfortable and are happy to explain the menu if you’re trying Nepali food for the first time. The service is quick, and everything is served hot and fresh. The shop itself is small but clean and well maintained. It has that simple, local vibe which makes it even more special. Perfect place to grab a quick bite after a walk near the wharf. Overall, Downtown Momos is a hidden gem in Parramatta. If you love momos or want to try authentic Nepali food, I highly recommend visiting. Definitely going back again!
Had a fantastic meal at Downtown MoMo. The momos were packed with flavour, perfectly cooked, and easily some of the best I’ve had in Sydney. The chow mein was equally impressive fresh, delicious, and full of authentic taste. Great food and friendly service. I’ll definitely be back for more.
