Delicious and fresh food, flavours are beautiful and portion sizes great for sharing. The service was great as they accommodated our large group. Food was brought out on good timing and spread out through our stay there. We also were given complimentary dessert which was so nice and delicious. The service from the wait staff was so lovely they helped us choose dishes which were suitable. For our large group. I can't wait to come back to try their other dishes! The bread, dips, snapper, pasta, burrata and eggplant dips, hamsi, calamari and kale salad were delicious! Omg the dessert! I wanted more ice cream! Please put that pavlova on the future menu because it was also amazing! Thank you for a beautiful birthday!
The appetizers were delicious and full of flavor. The main meat dish was good as well—nothing extraordinary, but definitely up to standard and enjoyable. However, I was quite disappointed with the fish dish. It had a noticeable fishy smell, which made it seem like the fish wasn’t very fresh. I had high expectations because of all the great reviews, so this dish was a letdown. Overall, though, it was still a nice experience, especially for the beautiful view of the bridge and the sunset.
I have visited Hamsi! twice since they opened, and I am absolutely blown away! Both of my experiences were consistently excellent. The appetizers are a real standout; the hummus and grilled halloumi have quickly become my absolute favorites. As for the main courses, the anchovies were prepared to perfection—fresh, crispy, and incredibly flavorful. I also highly recommend the red snapper; it is served with a muhammara sauce that elevates the dish to a whole new level. Everything from the food quality to the service was top-notch. It is rare to find a place that hits the mark this well so soon after opening. This is easily a 5-star experience in my book, and I cannot wait to come back for my third visit. Highly recommended!
Hamsi is one of the standout dining experiences at the Sydney Fish Market, offering beautifully prepared seafood with a fresh, modern Turkish influence. Every dish we ordered was excellent, showcasing quality ingredients and thoughtful cooking. The grilled barramundi with caramelised leek, butter beans and capers was perfectly cooked, with moist, flaky fish complemented by the sweetness of the leek and the brightness of the capers. The polenta-crumbed snapper with muhammara and burnt butter was equally impressive, featuring a crisp, golden crust and rich, balanced flavours. The roasted Dutch carrots with green lentils and sun-dried tomato were far more than a side dish, with beautifully caramelised carrots and a combination of earthy and vibrant flavours that worked perfectly. Service was warm, friendly and efficient, and the quality of the produce was outstanding throughout the meal. Hamsi offers a more refined dining experience than many of the casual options at the Fish Market, while still feeling relaxed and welcoming. Highly recommended and a restaurant I’ll happily return to.
It was a fully amazing experience overall! Everything from entee to dessert was truly wonderful. The staff kept coming over to check how everything was going, which made the whole experience feel really warm and welcoming. And as a Turkish person, I absolutely loved the rakı cocktail such a perfect touch. Head Chef Erdi even came to our table to make sure everything was okay. Well done, chef great job all around! Highly recommended!
