Hansang Strathfield has new management, so we went and see if anything has changed. Thankfully I can report nothing has changed since my last visit. My ox tail soup was still creamy and moreish. The grilled mackerel was tasty. The banchan came out fast. The service still on point. The only change I saw was the new entrance on the side of the restaurant. Will be back to check out the other dishes on the menu.
Authentic Korean ! This is an established Korean restaurant with probably the largest space in Sydney. The owner has changed a few months ago but the menu & set up stayed the same. We have tried their signature dishes, Beef spare ribs soup, chicken, beef bone broth that came with a fresh, totally Korean side dish sets. The soups were rich and flavorful. The Kimchi pancake was crispy & tasty, while Kimchi tofu was quite authentic. The service was very attentive & settings look quite like “old” Style Seoul. They also offer pressure- cooked rice set meals which is very popular amongst old K generation. Great place for big groups, especially in winter season to warm your stomach with wholesome broth.
what we ordered (between 4 ppl) kimchi pancake - $25 spicy korean army hot pot with sausages, ramen, cheese & veg - $65 boneless soy fried chicken - $39 the kimchi pancake was a great texture - crispy but still substantial- and probably my personal highlight of the meal. the stew didn’t have as deep or rich a flavour as i was expecting, but the portion was very generous. the fried chicken was pretty standard. service was a bit slow but the restaurant was very busy so it was understandable. note, they charge extra for side dishes to be refilled which I’ve never seen before and was a bit surprising to me considering the price of their mains is already on the higher side. EDIT in response to comment from owner: on my visit on 31/05/2026 there was a note on the menu that stated refills for side dishes were $1.50. I am not sure if the policy has since changed but this is also still visible on the online menu (16/06).
Food is decent here - seafood pancake cake is on point, fried chicken with sauce is pretty good (the original one without sauce is a bit dry) and the LA ribs are great. The only thing that I wouldn't recommend is the pork belly - not sure if it's overcooked or the quality of the meat is so-so but it comes out quite dry.
Hansang Strathfield serves really tasty Korean food and it’s easy to see why the place is always packed. The dishes were delicious and full of flavor — definitely worth the visit. Be prepared to wait though. It’s extremely busy and the wait time is usually 20+ minutes, especially around lunch and dinner .Walking in during peak hours isn’t the best idea if you’re in a hurry. Service was okay considering how busy the restaurant gets. The staff are clearly working hard, but if you’re in a group you may need to get their attention when you need something. Overall, great food and worth the wait. I’ll definitely be coming back again.
