there's probably a reason why this store has survived along the (infamous?) epping stroad while so many others don't- delicious dumplings at a cheap price and extremely convenient! people are not kidding then they say the dumplings are good. THEY ARE VERY GOOD. went here with my partner (epping local; he also wrote a review for this place haha, i'm in half a photo!) for saturday dinner; reasonably crowded, self-serve sauces & water on the table. go up to the counter to order, nobody will seat or check on you (all the staff are busy making dumplings at the window counter!). not a fancy establishment, don't expect anyone to dote on you or come around to check on how you're going. admittedly i find in sydney that "fancy" and "cheap" are mutually exclusive. but if you want 14 dumplings for less than $15 and watch them be made in front of you, i don't think you can beat this place. i really like the mushroom tofu dumplings! thank you- i'll definitely recommend this place to others and be back when i can :) * one month later, i am STILL thinking about the dumplings i had here. everyone go try them out!
Recommended place. The dumplings are great. Soy sauce and vinegar and some spicy stuff on the side. Cheap for how much you get, especially compared to the other restaurants around. I like the Beef and Leak dumpling option. A little hard for an outsider like me to understand the accent at times. But the staff is attentive to your needs, which is good.
The dumplings were clearly burnt, and when I asked the staff about it, they insisted this was “normal” and tried to make me eat them anyway. You can literally see from the photos how overcooked they are, and I could even smell the burnt taste before eating. Pretty disappointing experience overall.
Let's be clear...this is not a restaurant, moreso a take away or eatery with an emphasis on fresh, superb handmade dumplings & at a super affordable price (with generous portions). I wandered into this place after noticing it catching the 550 bus from Macquarie to Parramatta...what caught my eye was the work ethic of the dumpling cooks & chefs (visible from the bus stop's perspective). The sparseness of the decor belies a dedicated team of people that clearly care about what they do but are busily creating (rather than serving or doting on customers). I decided to invite my parents for a meal there a couple of months ago & have since returned thrice (3 times!) for its exceptional quality :))) Our dinners there have always been thoroughly enjoyable. The one-wrap technique of the ladies there is expertly done & each portion that is paid for is made-to-order, mixing the ingredients in front of your eyes, before having it steamed or fried. Yes, there a bit of self-tidying up to do of the table, as the place is focused on making rather than cleaning, but the quality from kitchen to table is bar-none. The staff there are lovely once you get to know them (they're very busy & value efficiency over anything else). For its price, quality & unrivalled consistency, ignore the negative comments here & judge it on its full capacity on its daily service on a weekday evening (it is always packed with eager customers!). I, for one, will return here at least once a month for as long as I live in Sydney - THE BEST DUMPLINGS (& I'm a Chinese-Australian soul) :)))
Amid the busy cars and shuttered shops, definitely a hidden gems for someone looking for something more substantial than pizza or pub food. The lamb and chive boiled dumplings hit the spot when the burger shop I was originally looking for had closed for good. No frills, just good food
