⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My partner and I stumbled across I Maccheroni almost by accident. We picked it on a whim, walked about 20 minutes to get there, and it ended up being one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. Tucked away down a quiet street, the restaurant is a beautiful little gem. The intimate setting, with just a couple of tables outside, immediately caught our attention. We were seated at a lovely window table for two with beautiful lighting, elegant table settings, soft music, and the most wonderful aroma throughout the restaurant. Everything felt immaculate, welcoming and thoughtfully put together. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Our waiter was warm, professional, knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about the food. His recommendations were spot on, and he made the entire experience feel effortless. Every single course was outstanding. We started with fresh oysters, followed by the most incredible fried dough topped with creamy cheese, prosciutto and finely grated cheese. It was unlike anything we’ve had before and was absolutely unforgettable. The portions were perfectly balanced, leaving us excited for each course without feeling overwhelmed. For our main, we ordered the pasta prepared in the cheese wheel, which was finished tableside for us. Watching it being prepared was an experience in itself, and the flavour was simply phenomenal. What impressed us just as much was the pasta itself. It tasted handmade, with a beautiful texture that gave it just enough grip for the hot cheese from the wheel to coat every strand perfectly. Rather than sliding off, the sauce clung to the pasta exactly as it should, creating one of the most memorable pasta dishes either of us has ever eaten. Every bite was rich, balanced and absolutely divine. We finished with dessert—a chocolate and hazelnut creation with hazelnut ice cream. While it wasn’t quite our favourite dish of the evening, it was still beautifully presented and enjoyable. We’ve eaten at many Italian restaurants over the years because Italian cuisine is easily our favourite, and I can honestly say this was some of the finest Italian food we’ve ever had. Every dish was prepared with incredible care, the ingredients tasted exceptionally fresh, and the attention to detail was obvious in every bite. For two people, including drinks, multiple starters, mains and dessert, we spent around $200, which felt entirely justified for the quality of the food, the service and the overall experience. If you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine that truly stands out, I Maccheroni is an absolute must-visit. We’ll be back without hesitation.

The best Cacio e Pepe I have ever had! I came here for my birthday three years ago and have thought about my meal often. Decided to come back for my birthday this year and it did not disappoint. Perfect meal and wonderful recommendation for the win pairing. All in a lovely warm atmosphere.

A beautiful little find in Paddington. The flavours are authentically Italian. The space has a lovely ambiance. Service is attentive and easy, and every dish we had was genuinely delicious. Nothing to fault. I might have found a hidden gem, already looking forward to coming back.

This place is special to us. It’s not just a restaurant it’s an experience. The food is proper traditional Italian, full of flavour and always consistent. That’s rare. Every time we walk in it feels like stepping into Little Italy. Warm, welcoming, and the kind of place you choose for birthdays and celebrations because you know it won’t disappoint. What really stands out is the consistency. Whether it’s a busy Saturday night or a quiet weekday dinner, the quality never drops. The pasta is always perfectly cooked, the sauces taste homemade and authentic, and the portions are generous without compromising on quality. The atmosphere is just as good as the food relaxed but lively, with that real family-run Italian feel that’s hard to find these days. We’ve tried plenty of Italian restaurants over the years, but we always come back here. It’s become our go-to for special occasions and casual dinners alike. Highly recommend if you’re looking for real, traditional Italian done properly.

I had the best Italian food today at lunchtime. The restaurant has such a warm and cozy atmosphere, and all the staff were incredibly friendly. The owner was in the restaurant, personally making an effort to take care of every guest. The food was absolutely delicious. I love all the beef and seafood they cooked, it’s really good! I’m traveling in Sydney and my friend is sick, but the food was so good that I even got takeaway to bring back and share with her. This was definitely one of the best memories of my trip. I really envy the people who live nearby in Sydney.
