The food was quite dissapointed 🍱 . We ordered an expensive Eel Set and the sauce on Eel is not enough, the eel is also undercooked, lots of bones left. This is really unacceptable. Salmon sashimi is fine, soba noodles is great, takoyaki is average. Beef Curry gravy is very thin, rice is not quite right, very dry for both plates. Miso is… also quite average. I mean… everything is average but we don’t have any problems with staffs though. I have a higher expectation for this price range. Not sure if we gonna come back.
Came here for a family dinner and was pleasantly surprised MIso wagyu bento was $30 but had a lot of food (2 takoyaki, a salad, some soba, a couple pieces of salmon sashimi, miso soup, rice and the protein). There was nothing wrong or improperly cooked on the bento, though there was a lot of rice and not a lot of protein/sauce to eat the rice with. The beef was well seasoned, tender and fatty The sashimi was good quality, fresh and the tuna was surprisingly good The unagi tasted like the ones you can get in a supermarket so I don't think it is worth it Tempura was good and crispy, wish it came with tempura sauce though Some negatives are that it felt really humid inside the restaurant and for some reason, some of the cutlery and plates are plastic (like the takeout ones) which was odd for a restaurant Also, not all our food came at once, for some reason one dish arrived like 5 minutes later than everyone elses' dish A cool thing is that there is a japanese homeware store inside the restaurant Overall, the food was worth the price given the quality and quantity (maybe the sashimi is a bit overpriced).
Had a great experience at Japan City Top Ryde. This place is underrated. The food is tasty, portions are generous, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. The kids meal at just $6.90 is fantastic value. I also tried the tempura vegetable curry set for $17.90, which came with miso soup and six pieces of tempura. It was very filling and well presented. The matcha and hojicha floats were a highlight too. They were a good size and only $7.50 each. Everything felt satisfying without being overpriced. We will definitely be coming back again.
We waited about 25 minutes for our food after ordering, which felt quite long given how busy the restaurant was. When the food finally arrived, the portion size was very small and didn’t feel like good value. I was also concerned about hygiene. I noticed a staff member touching her hair, then handling cash at the register, and then preparing food without changing gloves. This is not acceptable from a food safety perspective. Overall, the experience was disappointing and I hope the management can improve both service speed and hygiene standards.
Delicious food. Never tasted such wasabi before! Amazing. Everything was well prepared and cooked to perfection. Definitely need air conditioning both inside and out.
