Come on the weekends if you can. They only do Penang Har Mee on weekends. It’s a fish based broth with shrimp, pork and noodles. And a bunch of other things thrown in. Sooooooo yummy. The fish broth makes it. You will drink it all.
As a Malaysian, I’m quite baffled by the lukewarm reviews. Been eating here for years and most of the dishes are close to what you’d get in Malaysia. The highlights are the char kuey teow and the Hainanese chicken rice. Some caveats: Takeaway is never going to be as good as eat in when it comes to any Malaysian food. Don’t write a negative review if you get takeaway. It’s a Chinese based Malaysian restaurant so the best dishes are always going to be the non-Malay and non-Indian influenced dishes. Don’t get roti canai or Malay satay expecting something amazing. Such is the diversity of Malaysian food Don’t compare the laksa to a Thai laksa - the Malaysian laksa is the OG
Right next to Woolworths in Westfield Miranda. The vibe is relaxed, you just grab a seat yourself, order at the counter, and they’ll bring the food over. You don’t really expect much service in this kind of setup, but they’re totally fine. They do their job, they’re polite, and everything runs smoothly. The Penang prawn noodles had a nice prawn flavour. Not a lot of toppings, but still tasty, and they use two types of noodles which was a nice touch. The seafood fried rice was cooked to order, smelled great and the portion was pretty big. Good value for money.
Had the worst experience eating at this restaurant. We have 2 young children age 1 and 2. It is difficult enough to feed them as it is. Meanwhile the waitress lady kept staring at us. When we asked her what is her problem, she said "you have the dirtiest kids I have ever seen". Will be looking into taking further action, potentially legal in relation to this matter. Hope no one with children ever have to deal with this kind of "hospitality"
Laksa tasted good. Malaysian style. Hainanese chicken is alright Pineapple fried rice not too bad too :)
