This restaurant is mostly self service just like many casual restaurants in Japan. You walk in and order from a touchscreen kiosk (食券機) then wait for your ticket to be called, then pick up from the counter. Chilled water is self serve and you get your own condiments like soy sauce. A small basic Don starts at $13.90, and currently they are running a special for Miso Katsu Don (a Nagoya favourite) for $13.90 to $18.90 depending on size. I ordered the large salmon Don and potato salad for about $21.40 (2400円). Serving was decently large, though the salmon portion was not exactly generous, taste was okay and quality of rice was so-so. Soft drinks start at $2.80 (315円). Serving speed is quick. The chefs are Japanese.
While this branch shares a similar menu with the city shop, the experience feels quite different. It lacks some of the better-value deals found at the original location, which is a bit of a letdown. The service model is purely self-serve: you place your order at the kiosk or counter then wait to collect it from the kitchen window at the back. While the food is still tasty, it doesn’t quite hit the same mark as the city branch. On the plus side, there is plenty of seating available, making it a very reliable spot for a quiet solo meal or a small group catch-up.
Really good casual Japanese spot 👍. Everything we tried was great, but the highlights were definitely the Chicken Katsu Curry Udon: super hearty and satisfying 😌, and the Cheese Gyu Don, which was packed with flavour 😋. Compared to the affordable prices, the portions were bigger than we expected 😮, especially the mini rice bowls 😅, and all the bowls were really generous with the meat 😁. You order at the self-service kiosks and then just pick up your food at the counter when your number is called 🙏. Water and condiments are also self-serve to the left of the pick-up counter 👀. When you're done eating, you take your tray of dishes to the trolley to the right of the counter 👏. Also, the place had a warm, cosy vibe and was clean and tidy too ✨.
Oiden never disappoints! The Ontama Teriyaki Chicken Bowl is consistently fantastic – so comforting and tasty. Great price for the quality and portion size.
This Japanese restaurant is extremely delicious and offers great value for money. It's perfect for students and office workers. My friends and I often come here. I especially love their donburi, which is really excellent.
