Four of us came here for a birthday lunch. The crab soufflé was amazing and fellow diners were raving about their scallops with chorizo. The meal started with complimentary hot fresh bread with an anchovy butter. Unfortunately two of us were disappointed by our mains which was the daily special of à gnocchi with a lobster sauce. Although there was a good proportion of lobster added, the sauce itself was far too rich and I couldn’t finish it. The sauce needed to be broken down with some tomato which also would have made the dish look more aesthetically appealing. The fish pie was good, stacked with seafood and served with a lettuce salad. The stand out was the hot seafood platter - I wish I’d had that, the meal was plentiful, seafood fresh snd the sauce delicious. Crème brûlée for desert was enormous and delicious. They have some interesting cocktails, birthday person gets a complimentary raspberry gelato. The service was outstanding, and I’d definitely recommend this restaurant for a long lunch or for a special occasion. Thank you to the excellent waitstaff ❤️

Came to Rick Stein at Coogee Beach for a long lunch to celebrate all of our birthdays. We started with the oysters, scallops, grilled prawns, pipis and vongole, plus the crab soufflé recommended by Giovanni. Very glad we listened to him because the soufflé was absolutely excellent. The scallops were also a standout with a nice little kick of heat. For mains, we had the fish and chips, Newlyn fish pie, and Indonesian seafood curry. The fish pie was definitely the highlight for me, super comforting, rich, and incredibly tasty. The fish and chips was also great, a more elevated take on the classic that still felt satisfying and well balanced. The Indonesian seafood curry was okay, probably wouldn’t order it again - tasty, but it felt too buttoned up (if that makes sense). Desserts were crème brûlée, chocolate fondant, and tiramisu, and because it was our friend’s birthday, the team also surprised us with complimentary panna cotta and limoncellos which was a really thoughtful touch. Overall, the food was good, but the service from Giovanni and the rest of the team was what really made the experience memorable. Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming throughout the day. I’d happily come back again for that alone. Keen to return on a sunnier summer day for a long lunch or warm evening dinner by the beach.

Came for my first Rick Stein experience and it did not disappoint. A warm and elegant room, with great atmosphere and a lovely view. Interesting dishes. Enjoyed the pippis in XO which were different to the famous Golden Century version, with a thicker, darker sauce, but very, very tasty. The crab soufle was light and fluffy but also rich and tasty. The fish of the day was a fillet of Murray Cod, such a great fish, it doesn't need excessive garnish. It was simply baked and served on a bed of fresh peas and prosciutto. Add some salt: perfection. The chips were excellent, reminded me of English seaside cafes. The vegetables were simple and excellent. The wine list was eclectic but not overwhelming, and very well priced. Kudos and thanks to the sommelier for the Hunter Valley semillion; too many good Sydney restaurants ignore our premier wine region's premier variety - and it goes so well with seafood!. Also great to have a selection of nice beers on tap. Best of all, the service was exceptional; our lovely English waitress was knowledgeable, efficient, and friendly. She picked the mood of our table and had some fun with us, she really enhanced our experience. All the other servers were equally effective and engaging. I also had a great chat with Camello the maitre'd who was just bursting with information about the dishes and produce, and with pride for the restaurant. He told me Rick comes in frequently to supervise the pass, and dine there. It shows - this is already a top restaurant, without being over the top. Its striving for friendly casual excellence and I suspect it will thrive and end up an institution. I hope so. I'll certainly be back to find out!

Absolutely disappointed! We were meant to come here for Xmas but we were away so we traded the booking for Valentines 💘 day. All the food was bland, the scallops entre was sticking to the shell and no very tasteful, and had the full poached fish and the fish was cooked ok but they fuere was no flavour there, it needed salt! When we went to Mr Wong in the city was an absolute winner! My partner ordered the lobster termidor for an extra $100 and the portions were small and the flavour was not there again. Service was ok, kind guy but no experience In Hospitality , meal costed is $600 and was super dissatisfied- save your money for a place that is tasteful and values your money.

An absolutely spectacular dining experience in Coogee Beach . From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, with every dish crafted to perfection. The Singapore blue swimmer crab and Indonesian seafood curry were especially delicious, fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The location made the evening even more special, a stunning atmosphere that perfectly complemented the meal. The service was outstanding; the entire team made us feel genuinely welcome and well taken care of throughout the night. A special mention to Jorge, who was incredibly kind, attentive, and helped make the experience even more memorable. And to finish the dessert was simply outstanding. A truly delicious dinner from start to finish. An unforgettable experience, we will definitely be back. Highly recommended.
