I have been coming to this restaurant for a while and have always enjoyed the food, which is why I decided to visit again this morning. Unfortunately, this time I was quite disappointed. The portion size was alright, and the taste was good, but the food was extremely oily. I even took photos because there was so much oil, and I couldn’t finish my meal because it was too greasy. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and works on improving the oiliness, because the flavours are good and I would love to continue supporting this place.
I recently ordered takeaway from Subhakamana Restaurant and this was honestly one of the most disturbing food experiences I’ve had. I ordered 2 jhol momos and 1 biryani. As I opened the container and was just about to eat, I discovered a piece of plastic inside the momo. Not on the food—inside it. This is beyond careless. This is a serious hygiene failure and a potential choking hazard. I was completely shocked and lost my appetite immediately. How does something like this even leave the kitchen? Where is the quality control? To make things worse, the biryani was equally disappointing. It tasted nothing like authentic biryani—more like bland fried rice with no proper flavour, aroma, or preparation. Completely misleading and not worth the price at all.
Shuvakamna Strathfield serves some of the best momos I've had. The jhol is absolutely delicious, with a unique flavour that doesn't try to copy anyone else's recipe—it has its own authentic and unforgettable taste. The spicy sauce pairs perfectly with the momos and makes every bite even better. I would also highly recommend the bara and chatamari. They taste just like the authentic versions you would find in Kathmandu, bringing back the true flavours of Nepal. I'm absolutely in love with this place and its food. If you're a Nepali food lover or simply want to experience authentic Nepali cuisine, this is definitely a must-try!
haven’t been to a restaurant that serves food this awful in a hot minute and the service was not it! we got laphing which was over think, packed with way too much garlic and the jhol tasted like it had 5 spoons of salt. Chill chicken Momo had an awful smell from the meat. And the pork sekuwa as thicker than a tire and not filly cooked! The serve didn’t even do a check back with us, even tho they did it with other costumers. We left the food after 2 bites as it was not possible to finish anything. During billing they didn’t even ask us how everything was even tho they asked other costumers (i’m not sure if they only ask this question to non nepali costumers or do check backs with no nepali costumers) but they didn’t ask us how everything was. We paid the whole bill as we didn’t want to make an issue during late hours and we support local nepali businesses but honestly the way we were treated and the food quality was actually beyond terrible. Please do better! Take care of your fellow nepalese too!
Delicious, authentic food and very reasonable prices. The momo and dhindo set were fresh and full of flavour. Friendly service and good portion sizes. Highly recommended for anyone looking for quality Nepali food at a good price.
