Top local find in Newtown. A small restaurant but cute and intimate. The menu isn't extensive but the dishes were delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Has a really decent wine list as well. Highly recommended.

A faultless meal. An intimate seasonal restaurant serving up delicious, no frills, plates of food rooted in European sensibility. We nearly ordered the entire menu and agreed that the stand outs were the rosti’s, steak and crumbed pumpkin. We unfortunately on left room for one dessert, I would love to be able to try more on my return. Service was warm and personal. I am already excited to return and try new dishes as their menu evolves with the seasons.

South End was an absolute standout. One of those meals where everything just work, amazing food, relaxed vibes, and genuinely great service. The flavours are next level without trying too hard. Bold, balanced, and super confident. The beetroot dish was a surprise hit, silky, earthy, and punchy in all the right ways. The tartare was super fresh and clean, and the pork was unreal: crispy, rich, and seriously comforting. What really seals it though is the service. Friendly, switched-on, and totally unpretentious. The team clearly love what they do, great recommendations, perfect pacing, and just the right amount of attention without hovering. The space has a great buzz, relaxed but polished, and it’s the kind of place you could happily settle into for a long sesh. Add a smart wine list and you’re set. All up: killer food, excellent service, and a really good energy. South End is one of those places you leave already planning your next visit. Highly recommend.

An exceptionally scrumptious Sunday lunch graze for three in a cosy, unfussy setting. Worked through most of the small and medium plates, a couple of mains, and all the desserts on their seasonal menu. The chilled soup and the toast and rosti starters hit the spot, and the crumbed squash was a revelation of flavours. Tried three desserts: a perfectly balanced mille-feuille, a luscious rice pudding, and an airy chocolate tart, all paired well with a little glass of Madeira. Kudos to the team; would love to return next season.

What an absolute gem. We recently had lunch here and already know we’ll return. We loved the rosti and our mains were absolute standouts. The most sophisticated plates of comfort food we’ve had in a while. While dessert was delicious, it was incredibly light. We were both expecting a level of richness that wasn’t quite there. The raw sausage toast was a little strong for my partners palate and while we both enjoyed the zucchini, it wasn’t a standout, that’s just personal preference rather than a criticism. Highly recommend and thanks for the lovely lunch and warm service on the 7th March.
