Dinner 20 May. The main meal comprised pork with a kale and apple chutney. There were small pieces of pork crackling hidden in the kale and apple chutney. I say “hidden” as they weren’t obvious, weren’t declared on the menu and I ate the chutney in a normal manner. After I advised my fellow diners to be careful, they all had to pick through their chutney to separate the pork crackling pieces. I cracked a tooth on the pork crackling, requiring dental treatment. Various issues: 1) The design of the dish was extremely poor. Rather than the crackling being on the side and obvious, the pieces were small and hidden within the chutney. 2) It’s very obvious that the chef who cooked this dish did not taste test their dish PROPERLY, as they should have found that the pork crackling was EXTREMELY ROCK HARD. 3) It’s very obvious that the supervising chef did not review the proposed dishes, as they would have (should have) questioned the inclusion of small crackling pieces being hidden in the chutney, 4) It’s very obvious that the supervising chef did not PROPERLY taste test the dish as they should have found that the pork crackling was EXTREMELY ROCK HARD. 5) It’s very obvious that NO ONE compared the dish to the description on the menu, which DID NOT DECLARE the inclusion of the pork crackling. It is very poor that this restaurant school totally failed in the above respects. I expect that a teaching environment would have picked up on these issues. In addition to some other issues over the last year, the restaurant school dinner nights in the Ambassador Restaurant are not as good as they were two-plus years ago. The diners deserve better.

Had a lovely experience dining at the restaurant. Service and food all run by students who did a great job. Sure there can be improvements, but all that is fed back to the student chefs who come to you table at the end to talk about the meals which is great. A really lovely set menu and good selection of drinks. A great initiative to support students and also a real life practice environment for them to learn from. Well done!

Great experience to try! The culinary students serve up great dishes and the current pricing is $44 for 3 courses. The menu changes from term to term and so do the students.

Delicious and only $30 for 3 courses. Support the students and get a great feed. The fish was overcooked but it's a student chef restaurant and sometimes you need to forgive. Entrees and desserts were superb!

We loved our night out at the Ambassador Training Restaurant. The kids were all lovely, friendly, polite and the food was really delicious.
