Bought the frozen dumplings last week for the first time, and they were absolutely delicious—my son loved them too! When we came back today, the boy who took our order mentioned they don’t usually sell the frozen dumplings. I asked if he could kindly check with his mum or the owner, hoping they might remember me. After a bit of back and forth, he checked, and thankfully the lady agreed to sell them to us again. I really appreciated her kindness and amazing dumplings! And hoping there will be some improvement on the services Good luck.
This place serves authentic northern Chinese dumplings. The chef wraps the dumpling according to order. They are generous in portion and tasty either in soup or pan fried. Highly recommend.
Absolutely nails the old school northern Chinese comfort food vibe. Tight space, busy kitchen, packed tables, and constant movement. It legit feels like a place you'd find in Asia. We ordered a mix and everything landed. The pickled cabbage and pork intestines claypot noodles were the standout. Deep, tangy broth with proper fermented sourness, rich without being oily, loaded with offal, tofu, wood ear, and cabbage. Served bubbling hot in a claypot and incredibly satisfying. The white broth fish claypot noodles were clean and comforting, almost medicinal. Light but flavourful soup, tender fish slices, soft tofu, and napa cabbage. Perfect contrast to the heavier dishes. The braised beef claypot noodles were also solid. Rich soy based broth, generous beef pieces, chewy noodles, and that slow cooked depth you want on a cold night. We also had pork dumplings which were juicy, freshly made, and paired well with the chilli oil dip. The stir fried shredded chicken noodles were simple but done right, wok hei, not greasy, and very easy to eat. You can tell ingredients are prepared properly. Even the cold dishes in the fridge like pork ears, tripe, chicken gizzards, and sliced beef looked tempting and authentic. It is cramped, loud, and not somewhere you go for comfort or long chats. But if you want real northern Chinese flavours, claypot noodles, and that chaotic Chinatown energy, this place delivers hard. Also a nice bonus that this is one of the few places in burwood that open past 1am. Would absolutely come back, especially for the other dumpling dishes.
This egg dish was $9.80. Its abit of egg with cracker inside. It tasted as one might expect, but was pretty bland. I wish it had abit more seasoning. Maybe if I had gotten the addon ingredients it would have tasted much better.
The place can be a bit eerie and looks run-down but that does not define the food. I come here for dumplings and the pancake which is always tasty with massive serving. The dumplings are the best so far, although the wait is longer than other places but each time I visit I could tell its freshly made on site. $14 for 12 steamed dumplings. Each dumpling is the size of your palm, full of meat filling and very juicy. I could never go back to frozen dumplings again. The cooks and chef barely speak any english but they always tried their best to accomodate you.
