Pancake was bitter, something with the batter mixture was off. Food (Big brekkie) came in cold, it’s a huge place and servers have trouble locating table numbers manually. They really could use those order at the table apps. Environment was great though, nice views by the river.
Nice place and good food—I go here often, but service can be a bit slow during busy hours.
Waited 20 minutes to be seated. All the servers just kept walking past, seeing us standing there and nobody sat us. Just walked having to have paid for a booking and didn’t even get sat
We had a 7:00pm Valentine’s Day set menu booking at XS Expresso Emu Plains and arrived at 6:50pm. Unfortunately, our main course was not served until 9:05pm, which was a very long wait — especially for a pre-booked set menu on a well-planned occasion like Valentine’s Day. Since bookings are confirmed in advance, the restaurant should be organised according to the number of guests. Being told the kitchen was busy was disappointing. We also noticed that guests who arrived after us were served and finished earlier than we did, which was frustrating. Our mains were brought out two at a time instead of being served together for all four of us. After already waiting so long, this made the experience less enjoyable. Because we were very hungry from the delay, we ordered chips, which arrived quickly. However, by the time our mains finally arrived, we were already quite full and couldn’t properly enjoy them. To be fair, the manager did apologise for the inconvenience and kindly waived our drinks (around $80 - $ 90), which we appreciated. Overall, while we acknowledge the apology and gesture, the long delay and service organisation affected what should have been a special evening.
Such a beautiful location for brunch (and can’t imagine how nice it is at night with all of the lights on!) Their menu is extensive - and I was lucky enough to try their Oreo range which is available this month. Chocolatey, decadent and the perfect desserts!
