If there’s such a thing as a Sydney food institution for bánh mì, Marrickville Pork Roll absolutely earns its place at the top. I managed to get there right when they opened, which was perfect—not just to beat the crowd, but to actually take in the setup (and snap a few photos) without the usual rush. Service was efficient and friendly, even at the start of what quickly becomes a busy day. The standout for me is their roast pork—crispy, juicy, and packed with flavour. If I’m not going for that, the lemon pork with pork skin is my go-to combo, bringing a nice balance of tangy brightness and rich texture. But what really elevates their bánh mì into another league are the small details: the cooked shallots in oil and their pâté. Those two elements add a depth and richness that’s hard to find elsewhere, and honestly, they’re the “secret weapons” that keep you coming back. The bread is exactly what you want—light, airy, and perfectly crispy on the outside—while all the fillings taste fresh and well-balanced. Strongly recommend. Easily in the top 3 bánh mì in Sydney, and once you’ve had it, you’ll understand why people keep lining up.
Lives up to its expectations. I got the pork crackling roll. Definitely get the chilly cause it just makes it better. Minimal queue when I went. Service is pretty fast and efficient. Rolls are nice and crispy. You will leave crumbs where ever you eat.
There is a reason you turn up on any day of the week and you'll see people standing in line for one of these iconic pork rolls. Whilst there are a couple of variations on the menu, you can't beat the traditional roll! Just prefect. Whilst the lines are long, the shop rolls through orders like a well well oiled machine. Amazingly the shop has managed to keep the price of the rolls low, only adding to the overall joy and value of this store.
Marrickville Pork Roll never disappoints. I had the crispy roast pork and it was absolutely awesome — perfectly crunchy crackling, juicy pork, and packed with flavour. Fresh bread, great balance of fillings, and super satisfying overall. Easily one of the best pork rolls around. Highly recommend!
This Vietnamese bánh mì shop—when I was studying, going to Marrickville was basically for these pork roll. These days they’ve got lots of branches, but whenever I’m back in Marrickville, I still stop by to buy their rolls. In this day and age, it’s one of those really affordable choices.
