The most expensive meal I’ve had ($1870 between 2), solid food but definitely not value and not going to be a frequent event!! We bought only two dishes during our time at Golden Century, the king crab cooked with scallions and ginger and also king crab roe noodles. The other dish was the godmother chilli diced chicken. The king crab was pretty great, the noodles were exceptional. This king crab was too similar in taste to other king crabs. In my opinion it’s not worth the hefty price tag. I understand the wow factor of it being absolutely huge, but otherwise it’s not worth it. The chicken on the other hand was pretty good value at around 50 dollars. The meat was juicy with a slightly crispy outer layer, and the spices were incorporated very well. It had a very aromatic and clean spice profile which paired well with the king crab roe noodles. Ordering the king crab is not something I would probably do again… but it was a dinner full of laughter and great memories. The service was great, we arrived at 10pm (closing time was 11pm), and we ate there until 12am, when they kindly told us that they had to close. We had the whole venue to ourselves from 11pm to 12am which was awesome. Definitely a great memory. They didn’t offer to let us take photos with the crab, nor did they tell us the weight beforehand which wasn’t great, but it was understandable given we ordered quite close to the closing time.

We had dinner at the restaurant on the Friday, the 13 Friday 2026. The food was good as usual. However there are number of disappointing points I would like to mention. 1, My booking was for three people at 6:30 pm, when we arrived the restaurant, the reception lady told us there was no table available due to the booking system was broken, the most annoying part was she simply turned her face away and ignored us. We finally got the table after I spoke to the manager. 2, The manager took my food order, I was told there was jumbo oyster available, I ordered three of them, however when we received the oysters, they were not jumbo oysters, they were large oysters. When I raised the issue with the same manager, I was told the restaurant no longer sell jumbo oysters, he should inform me in the first place. 3, I ordered lobster with other dishes, I was washing my hand in the toilet whiling the manager brought up a live lobster which was more than 2kgs to the table, it was the first that my wife and her aunt come to Australia, both of them did not know what was going on. It was too late when I back to the table, the lobster had already under cooking. I believe a reasonable staff should pick lobster with the right size according to the number of customers, a 2kgs lobster was too much for just three of us. 4, The bill ended up 965 dollars, I was told there would be additional 10 dollars surcharge if I want to pay by card. Paying by card is a common payment method, I don’t see it is reasonable for charging additional fee for card payment. I had a lot of good experience with Golden century brand over years. However the experience on the 13 Friday 2026 was under the standard it should be and very disappointing. I hope the detail of service could be improved.

I was absolutely blown away by the food – truly some of the best I’ve ever eaten. The dumplings in chilli oil are an absolute must-try, bursting with flavour and perfectly balanced. The salt and pepper beef melted in our mouths and left us speechless – I couldn’t believe how incredible it tasted. Honestly, every single dish placed in front of us was outstanding. This place is a gem, and I can’t wait to come back!

The XO pipis came with a fantastic sauce. The standout dish was the sweet and sour pork — beautifully crisp on the outside, tender inside, with a perfectly balanced tangy-sweet flavor. The M9 wagyu was underwhelming; I’m not sure which cut it was, but it lacked tenderness, and the sauce pairing felt off. The other two dishes left no real impression. The restroom was old, dirty, and well below the standard you’d expect from the restaurant. Service, however, was commendable — even during the busy rush, staff made sure to greet and check in on us.

So disappointing. Do not expect a five star food within a five star hotel but one has to pay a five star price . First, most of the waiters do not have any facial expression . They may do their jobs ok but one just do not feel you are being welcomed. Do not forget this is a restaurant within a five star hotel . Most cafes along the streets are better than this . Second , food is very average or even below average. I do feel some of the dim sums are premade and sent over here . Sticky rice buns were way too salty . The standard of most food is just like one of those dim sum take away places. Decoration is similar to before but due to the poor service and food , the whole elegant ambience just disappears. Very sadly , everything has gone down so much since reopening . However, I have to say the restaurant s Chinese manager is friendly .
