Absolutely unacceptable. I was starving and ordered lunch to take away, only to find a long strand of hair in my food. It was disgusting and completely ruined my appetite. This shows a serious lack of hygiene and basic food safety standards. I’m shocked and disappointed. There’s no excuse for something like this, and I will definitely not be returning. People deserve to eat without worrying about cleanliness.
The food is nice, but it’s appalling to see that while a good step was taken to forbid plastic straws, sushi franchises like Maru are allowed to continue to use so much single-use plastic. From trays, to recipients for dipping sauces, to these little fish containing soy sauce that end up polluting our beaches. I won’t return until I see Maru showing some care for the environment.
Today I ordered the Pork Ramen and Chicken Katsu Don from this place, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The chicken was cold, the batter was soggy, and it tasted as if it had been sitting in the fridge for days. As for the pork ramen, I was expecting a proper slice of pork, but it came with a small amount of minced meat instead. The broth was overly salty, and the portion size was quite small. I wouldn’t recommend this place and suggest others consider alternative options.
I bought their gyoza and spicy chicken lunch box. Both tasted pretty good but i don't like their type of rice.
I ordered two sushi rolls and experienced horrific food poisoning for days to come that left me bed ridden. I received room temperature rolls, thinking maybe the rice was still warm from them being freshly made, unfortunately this was not the case and I was terribly unwell after. I would never eat here again and haven't been able to keep food down for days. I missed important events and work in those days I took off. I had all the symptoms of food poisoning and I have been put off sushi entirely now.
