I went to Sushi Musa for dinner and was immediately impressed by the renovations. The fit-out is stunning, clean, bright, modern, and very inviting. It honestly looks amazing. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. We arrived at 7:27 pm and asked for a table for two, only to be told the kitchen was already closed. We were told we could only eat what was left on the train. The customer service was disappointing, and one of the chefs even rolled her eyes as we walked in, which made us feel completely unwelcome. To make matters worse, the menu was ripped, taped back together, and dirty. For a newly renovated restaurant, the least they could do is provide clean, presentable menus. The sushi itself was very bland, lacked flavour, and didn't taste fresh. It seemed like it had been sitting there for a long time. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. The restaurant may look beautiful, but the customer service, food quality, and attention to detail were all well below expectations.
Unagi Don with sushi rice tasted much better. I was told they had run out of white rice and substituted sushi rice at no extra charge, and it worked really well. Compared with the Udon Ebi Tempura, the udon was not filling at all; only about two spoonfuls and finished. I gave 4 stars not because of the service, which was perfect, with the train bringing the food straight to the table and the order arriving quickly, but because the portion size was too small. I also attached both photos I took. After the renovation, the atmosphere is much nicer, although it felt a bit odd sitting at the sushi train desk when you’re not actually eating sushi train food.
I don't usually leave negative reviews because I understand that it's hard at times running a restaurant but the experience was disappointing. We decided to try because of advertising seen inside the Westfield and knowing that the same location had traded under different names through the years it was probably a chance to give it a go again to see how it was. The sushi train belt didn't have a lot of selection, but we're aware that the selection might be reduced depending on foot traffic, so we decided to order. Thankfully the dishes came out rather quickly, so there's that at least. However the food itself was lackluster for the price. We ordered the soft shell crab, and it was literally just one very small serving. We ordered the karaage chicken, and it was just way too salty. Maybe the only thing worthwhile were the rice dishes as the portions were reasonable. The sushi themselves were passable, not stellar but manageable. No free water either, you're expected to buy all the drinks. Sadly not a recommendation from myself. At least the staff were friendly, which saves them the 3 stars for service. It was a tidy and clean place too, so no loss of points there. But still, the food was just not up to scratch, which is unfortunate.
We had a great experience the first time we visited, but unfortunately our second visit was very disappointing. It was a busy Sunday lunch and the sushi train was almost empty most of the time, so we had to order instead. Unlike most sushi train restaurants, there was no option to order via an app or QR code, so we had to wait for a waitress, which wasn’t easy as the staff were very busy. Once we finally ordered, it took around 40 minutes for our food to arrive. I understand restaurants get busy, but a sushi train should be better prepared during peak hours. Hopefully they can improve the staffing and keep the train better stocked, as the overall experience was quite frustrating.
We recently visited the newly renovated and reopened Sushi Musa in Miranda, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. The sushi train had very limited options, so we had to order from the menu. Unfortunately, after a long wait, several of our meals arrived incorrectly due to ingredients being unavailable, and we weren’t informed until after the food was served. There also seemed to be some confusion about what was and wasn’t available on the menu. Overall, the service, communication, and food were disappointing very average and overpriced. We won’t be returning.
