Making pizza with 100pc Italian ingredients doesn't ensure italian pizza any more than using ingredients from new york makes a great new york slice. It does ensure a cruddy balance of payments. Pizza is all about stretch, crust development, sugo and cheese. All missing here. The crust is stretchlesss bread. The oven may look wood fired, but it isn't and the crust has zero character. No development. This has all the character of instant bread. The sugo isnt terrible, but has nothing to offer beyond the tin taste. Yhe cheese is commercial, characterless. The dead basil leaves might as well not be there. Good service. It's fully priced. Not fully delivered. Note regarding their reply. Australia has good enough flour, tomatoes and cheese to make great pizza. Importing is not a cure. 2 days ferment should yield a better crust. Depends a little how much of that's cold ferment. I know people who like the pizza here....
Best pizza in Sydney! As an Italian, I can honestly say this pizza is just as good as any pizza in Italy. The staff are super friendly, the vibe is cozy and well-kept, and it’s really clean. I totally recommend it to everyone! P.S.: The mamma’s meatballs pizza was insane.
Great pizza and very helpful staff. I called ahead and picked up my pizza but I picked up someone else's order and didn't realise until I got home. I called them and not only did they deliver the right pizza straight to my door, but they also added drinks and ice cream to apologise for something that was not really their fault. Seriously good pizza by the way. I spoke to a staff member first, then the Manager and they were both excellent - sorry I didn't get their names.
Johnny Gio’s in Potts Point never disappoints. The pizza is consistently fresh, generous, and full of flavour. The crust has that perfect balance of crisp and chew, and the toppings taste high-quality—not overloaded, just right. The staff are friendly and the service is quick, even during the busy dinner rush. Whether it’s dine-in or takeaway, the quality stays the same. Easily one of the best pizza spots in the area. Highly recommended!
I had been wanting to eat at Johnny Gio's for some time now as many of my friends raved about the pizza here. I finally had the opportunity to try and it definitely did not disappoint. I ordered Sammy the Butcher which was loaded with different meat. I felt that the meat on the pizza complimented each other not only in terms of taste but texture. There was a generous amount of melted mozzarella on it too. The pizza base was really good as well. It was light and fluffy but had a crispness to it. Overall it was a delicious pizza. I would recommend eating here and am keen to try their other flavours.
