Only seats were outside on a rainy day so rushed through our meal. The papaya salad was ok, had better at other places but the grill pork jowl was amazing. Best we had in sydney.

The seasoning suited my taste. Pad see ew had nice smokey flavour, papaya salad wasn’t too spicy. The tomyum fried rice was good as well, the rice was dry but wasn’t hard. But 5% petrol surcharge is a bit iffy

We visited the Chatswood store tonight and left extremely disappointed. While the food quality itself remains acceptable, the portion sizes have clearly been reduced to an unacceptable level—especially the watercress vegetable dish. Charging $25 for such a small serving is completely unreasonable and feels like poor value for money. We raised this concern with a waiter and were explicitly told the dish would be remade. This commitment was not honoured. No replacement was provided, and no follow-up was made. The restaurant was busy, but that does not excuse inattentive and dismissive service. Customers should not have to chase staff after raising a legitimate concern. As regular customers, this experience is particularly frustrating. Based on tonight’s visit, the decline in both portion value and service means we will not be returning anytime soon. Just to add from your response- A replacement portion of water spinach was not served as per your response, if it did I wouldn't leave such a review. Good luck with your lying staff and your business.

The only thing that made me feel disappointed is Grilled pork neck. The portion was really small based on the price, ONLY 10 pieces... and the presentation didn't look good. The pieces were cut quite large and most of them were just fat with very little meat, which made it very greasy and hard to eat also the dipping sauce also didn’t taste very good. I ordered two dishes along with the Khao Soi, and waited about 20-30 minutes, but this was all that was served It might be something worth reconsidering, Thanks.

Chat Thai – Chatswood Visited on: 27/12/2025 If you are thinking of strolling in at lunchtime like a relaxed holidaymaker, think again. Chat Thai does not do bookings, so we turned up early like over‑eager students waiting for exam results. Fortunately, we scored a table for six adults and a baby. The décor? Let’s just say if you are expecting golden Buddhas and carved teak elephants, you will be spiritually disappointed. It looks more like a modern café that accidentally learned Thai. The soundtrack swings between classic and modern Christmas songs, so you may find yourself eating curry while humming “Jingle Bell Rock”. The menu is huge — the kind that makes you flip pages like you are reading a novella. Even the cups are pewter, which instantly makes you feel 10% fancier than you actually are. Fried Flat Rice Noodle with Chicken (Pad See Ew) Imagine Chinese Ho Fun went to Thailand and came back with a tan and a slightly different accent. Smoky wok hei flavour, but the chicken strips were firmer than my patience. Red Curry with Roast Duck (Kaeng Phed ped Yang) The curry sauce was bold, spicy, and delicious, but the duck pieces were rationed like wartime supplies. And those tiny red chillies? They look innocent until they ambush your tongue. Approach with caution. Crab Omelette (Kai Jeow Poo) Light, fluffy, crispy, and clearly fried in oil hot enough to power a small engine. Subtle tang, great texture. Fried Fish in Curry (Pla Chu Chee) A deep‑fried snapper lounging in a pool of creamy red curry sauce. Perfect with rice. Honestly, if they served bread, I would shamelessly mop up every last drop. Desserts Fried ice cream and a sweet dish with tiny pearls. As someone who prefers savoury, I shall leave dessert judgement to those with a sweeter soul. Thai food tends to cost more than Cantonese, and Chat Thai follows that trend. But with its quirky atmosphere, silvery cups, and a few standout dishes, it’s definitely an experience — especially if you enjoy your curry with a side of soft rock music.
