I'm in love with this place. For the longest time I've been searching Thai restaurants for my favourite dish nam khao but it's quite difficult to find in places closer to the City Centre. When I heard Green Peppercorn from Fairfield opened a place in Marrickville I had to go and it didn't disappoint. The nam khao was perfect - well balanced flavours and the rice was actually crunchy. The Khao Kha Mu was also delicious. Pork leg braised so that it's super tender and soft. All the food was in point. Next time I'll have to get the chicken feet salad to try. Green Peppercorn Express is located in a little pub on Marrickville Road. It a small pub but you'll have to go to the back for the restaurant and it's worth it. Prices were reasonable and I saw there are lunch time specials as well. The night we went, you are able to get vouchers from the restaurant for free soft drinks at the pub. The night couldn't get any better.
Had a fantastic lunch today. The Pad Thai was a 10/10—chewy noodles with the perfect tamarind tang. Even the takeaway fried rice held up beautifully. The discounted lunch portions are a great touch for solo diners. However, the dinner pricing doesn't quite match the 'no-frills' atmosphere, especially when other nearby eateries offer more inviting ambiance for the same price. A solid 5 stars for lunch, but a bit hesitant about returning for dinner.
Great Thai restaurant tucked in the back of a pub. Staff in the pub and restaurant were all super friendly. This is more of a Lao and Isaan style menu but with the Thai classics too. Cozy and no windows but still nice vibe with chill Thai pop songs playing. Very good value for the quality.
We regularly visit the Green Peppercorn in Fairfield so we were very happy to hear one was opening in Marrickville! It is very hidden behind the Crown and Emporer Hotel. My favourite has to be the Laad Na - thick gravy and noodles, you can't go wrong! Happy to recommend this place to anyone!
We had a wonderful dinner here tonight. The place is cozy, perfect for a relaxed chat, and the service was very friendly. The Pad Thai with beef was one of the best I’ve had in Sydney—authentic and full of flavour. The crispy pork belly had a perfect crunch and super tender meat. The boat noodle was amazing, especially the tender beef and the fresh touch of mint. Great prices, great food, and you can tell the chefs cook with passion. I’ll definitely be coming back!
