Tried the famous Chim Chum after seeing it recommended by GoodFood, and it was excellent! The broth was light, naturally sweet and full of flavour without being too spicy. The hot pot set was generous with fresh meats, prawns, vegetables and glass noodles. We also loved the crispy pork neck salad and the salted egg seafood rice. Friendly service, authentic Thai flavours and a cosy atmosphere. A perfect choice for winter and something different from the usual hot pot. Highly recommend!

A good feed overall! The sizzling on the hot sizzling plate really delivered, the crispy pork was definitely a good crisp and decently portioned!! Interesting special options in the form of salted egg squid which was yum and mild, would’ve loved a heavier salted egg taste, pad thai noods were also yum, but nothing particularly special.

I recently visited Khao Kang Maruay Thai Restaurant and was pleasantly surprised. I was brought here by a friend, and it definitely lived up to the hype—especially since it’s also recommended by Good Food. The menu is quite extensive, covering everything from salads and curries to fried rice and hotpot-style dishes. It’s a great spot for late dinners or casual catch-ups, and a big bonus: no weekend surcharge. My standout was their chilli sauce—super flavourful with a perfect balance of sour, spicy, and garlicky notes, plus plenty of chilli seeds for that extra kick. It paired amazingly with the grilled pork jowl, which was cooked perfectly—slightly charred on the outside, tender and juicy inside, and not greasy at all. Another favourite was the stir-fried water spinach with crispy pork—great texture contrast and really satisfying. The Tom Yum fried rice with young coconut was also memorable, served in a coconut shell. It had that signature tangy-spicy flavour, balanced nicely by the sweetness of the coconut and fresh seafood. Portions are generous—perfect for sharing. Overall, a solid go-to for authentic Thai food in Haymarket. Would definitely come back!
