The highlight of the place was the Kana Moo Krob (stir fried crispy pork belly), it was very tasty and the vegetables were not overcooked. The flavour was good, it was perfectly seasoned and was not sweet. The fish was quite difficult to eat, need to be very careful with bones. The sauce was tasty, almost like a spicy sweet and sour sauce. The fresh Thai basil made the dish more fragrant. The tom yum goong was okay, it was too sweet and this is the creamy version of the dish. The prawns were not so fresh so it made it very hard to peel. We had to use fingers which made it very hard to eat. The dishes were served quite slowly, it took a while for them to come out. Service was good, staff were attentive but we were rushed to order.
Good place for Thai food if you’re in the area. The food is amazing and large for what you pay for. They have heaps of tables but would suggest booking if you’re coming in during peak hours or have a large group with you. The BBQ grilled chicken, pad Thai and massaman curry are classics that you can’t go wrong with. I recommend them if you’re after some guidance.
A popular restaurant in Chatswood. The decor is funk with lots of neon and mirrors. A fun atmosphere thought can get a little noisy but this is part of the fun. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is byo but beer and wine only. The food is delicious and well prepared and the price is reasonable. The lunchtime specials are cheap and quick. There are no toilets in house and you have to get a key and go upstairs in The building next door.
I was very disappointed with my experience at Khao Pla Chatswood. When we arrived, the front desk staff member named OLIVE appeared unfriendly and did not greet us with a smile. What made the experience feel uncomfortable was that the customer before us was greeted warmly and smiled at, while we did not receive the same treatment. Good customer service should be consistent for all customers. We felt unwelcome from the moment we entered the restaurant, which affected our experience. I hope management addresses this issue and ensures all guests are treated with the same level of courtesy and respect.
Visited Khao Pla Thai Restaurant today and ordered chicken fried rice. I politely requested it to be made spicy, but the waitstaff refused and said they only provide chilli on the side and cannot make any changes to the recipe. I even suggested a very simple option — adding chilli to the oil while cooking on the wok so the spice spreads naturally through the rice — but was told they do not make any special requests for customers at all. The food itself may be decent, but the experience felt disappointing because the request was extremely small and reasonable, especially for a dish cooked fresh in a wok. Good customer service is about flexibility and making diners feel welcome. Unfortunately, the attitude came across as very rigid and unwilling to accommodate even the simplest preference.
