A great spot if you’re craving authentic Thai and Lao food! They have a huge variety of dishes to choose from, especially seafood and fish dishes, which seem to be the specialty here. The fish dishes are a must-try – fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly with bold Thai and Lao flavours. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavour and great for sharing. Another thing I loved was the portion sizes. The servings are very generous.

The atmosphere here is incredibly bustling, lively, and full of energy! The food presentation is absolutely beautiful, and the flavors completely lived up to the hype. The absolute highlight of the night was the Marinated Seafood in Soy Sauce Platter—loaded with raw crab, prawns, and salmon. The seafood tasted incredibly fresh, and pairing it with the seaweed and their signature spicy sauce made it even better. We also loved the Larb Barramundi, which was perfectly deep-fried and tossed in a vibrant, herby Thai dressing. Because it’s a popular spot, the space inside can get a little tight. We had a pram with us, but it was easy enough to manage by just folding it up and placing it out of the way to the side of our table.

We came back to Nua Lao Thai to celebrate my husband's birthday and revisit the area where we used to live in the CBD. Lots of good memories here! The raw seafood platter was definitely the highlight. It came with salmon, crab and prawns, all incredibly fresh and generously portioned. The flavour is quite different from Chinese-style marinated seafood — softer, milder and packed with Thai herbs and spices. The Larb Barramundi was another standout dish. We also enjoyed the papaya salad and a beef hotpot set. The menu is huge and we accidentally ordered a different beef dish from what we intended, but it was still delicious. Portions are very generous! Authentic food, friendly atmosphere, and lots of Thai customers dining there. We'll definitely be back to try more dishes next time!

Famous food vlogger, Mark Wiens named this restaurant as one of the must visit Thai restaurants in Sydney & you bet I had to try! I loved that they had a Marinated Seafood Platter here because we wanted to try the prawns, salmon and crab so we didn’t need to worry about choosing one or the other. It was sweet, salty and tangy, is how I would describe it, paired with a slice of garlic and Thai chilli and you had a match made in heaven. The flavouring may not be suited for everyone but to me this is exactly how the food tastes like in Thailand, really teleported me back 😍 We also ordered the Larb Barramundi & the Tom Zab with Beef Tendon. With the weather we have right now in Sydney, this Tom Zab was exactly what I needed in the cold weather, it had a good level of spice, packed on with herbs & a good amount of sourness. I’ve always loved adding extra lime or lemon to my soup, so this was right up my alley 🤤 I’ve never had a Larb Barramundi before, I’ve had Larb in various ways but never with Fried Barramundi & it was a very different and unique twist, I will say if there was more salad and dressing/sauce in this, it would’ve been a great star power dish, so the fish could properly soak in all the flavours and sauce.

A popular, authentic Thai-Laotian restaurant my friends and I came here to try the raw marinated seafood platter and it was amazing! We also got the larb barramundi and the flavours and texture in that dish was a symphony 🤤 Known for its bold, spicy flavors focusing on Isaan dishes you will be transport to North-Eastern Thailand! If you're a fan of authentic bold, punchy, tasty flavours with friendly service, this is a must visit!!
