Viand is a modern thai restaurant that creatively blends flavors to offer a unique dining experience. The ambience is inviting, with an open kitchen, while an art gallery is situated upstairs. For someone who flys to Bangkok so often, the dishes are mild, too sweet savory for curry. While there were hits and misses ,the desserts were exceptional, truly the icing on the cake, making the visit worthwhile. Its my personal opinion as taste is very individual.
I had lunch at Viand yesterday first time. I got very pleasant experience. Anita remembered my booking time and name and she called my name straight away when I just pushed the door to check in which makes me feel warm welcome especially 1st time to try new restaurant. It’s open kitchen. Nice and clean. Anita and her team are so efficient and professional. Nice and chill vibe. Enjoyed the cocktails and meal. There is art gallery upstairs and it’s nice to visit after having meals. I will be back next time and explore different choices on the menu.
Most amazing Thai food. Everything was extremly fresh, very tasty and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is so calm and relaxing. The restaurant has such sanctuary feel. Such great value for money too. We absolutely loved it.
Best thai experience in Sydney, be sure to check it out, you won’t regret it. Flavours were all built completely from scratch; really creative but still authentic at the same time. They also do BYO on Wednesdays which is great!
Viand located at Woolloomooloo is not your traditional Thai restaurant. Annita Potter, head chef puts her own twist on flavours with her seasonal menu. We shared the eight course chefs tasting menu. Standout dishes were the crispy rice noodles with Moreton Bay bugs pickled garlic golden shallots and chillies and the coconut and galangal soup of black lip mussels assorted mushrooms and chilli jam. There’s an extensive wine list and a private dining area for larger group bookings.
