⭐⭐⭐ An Restaurant – Famous but honestly just okay A bit of background: An Restaurant has been a Bankstown institution since 1987, when the Phan family opened this Saigon-style eatery and named it after their 7-year-old daughter . It's regularly praised in the Good Food Guide and has a cult following – even award-winning chef Dan Hong has been dining here for over three decades . The place is massive (seats 250) and runs like a well-oiled machine . It's at 27 Greenfield Parade, Bankstown, about a 40-minute drive from Sydney CBD . We found it through Xiaohongshu – lots of people saying it's a "must-eat" and worth the drive. We were heading to the Blue Mountains anyway, so we figured we'd stop by. The place was busy, big dining room, efficient service. We ordered the beef pho. The broth? Just average – didn't taste like it had been slow-cooked for hours; more like it was made with powder and a bit of MSG. And the beef was quite tough – the kind of meat you get when it's cut too thick and not from the best parts. It's edible, it's fine. But is it worth driving 40 minutes for? Honestly, no. Not for me. A few things to know if you go: it's cash only, and they've been cash-only for years . Some people have had negative experiences with the service too . And it's not cheap – around $17–22 for a bowl, which is pricey for pho . Verdict – 3 stars. It's a famous spot with a long history, but the food didn't live up to the hype. If you're in the area, sure, give it a try. But don't go out of your way just for this.

Visited for the first time and was really impressed. The broth was rich, clean and full of flavour. The beef was cooked perfectly, not undercooked, and the rice noodles weren’t overcooked or soggy either. Pho is the art of timing, and AN gets everything just right. The food also came out very quickly, even though the restaurant was busy. My only complaint is that I can’t believe such a large and popular restaurant is still CASH ONLY. There wasn’t any obvious sign outside, and I only noticed the notice after walking inside. It feels really inconvenient these days (come on it’s 2026) and was the only downside to an otherwise excellent meal.

I was amazed by how quickly the food arrived! I was so thrilled to see Tendon Pho on the menu—what a treat! 💗 Now I totally get why everyone says this is the best pho in town. It was 100% worth the drive! I’ll definitely be back soon. The only tiny downside is the parking, but if the lot were a bit bigger, it would be perfect!

Genuinely the best pho I’ve ever come across! My family has been coming here for years and the quality has never ever wavered. The staff are all incredibly kind and on top of everything regardless of if they are having a regular or very busy night. The speed is beyond impeccable, literally meals are served to your table in 5 minutes (no exaggeration), sometimes even less. They have a wide variety and the restaurant itself has a very lovely vibe and is immaculately clean. SO PHO SO GOOD!

Only accept CASH. Food comes very fast, like 2mins. It's yummy but not the best I've tried. They are very generous with beef and mung bean sprouts.
