Was passing through around lunchtime and stopped in for a roast pork Banh Mi. From the street this looks like it would be the spot, inside very similar. It was a bit past lunchtime and there was still a constant stream of people coming and going for the roast pork roll so figured it must be good. Price was on point at $10 too. But after that it fell a bit flat for me. As you can see from the photo it was a bit lacklustre on the fillings and the pork I got was super fatty and I ended up throwing a lot of it out. It did have a good flavour though and there were elements of crispyness throughout but definitely not the best I’ve had. For the price its value for money but won’t win any awards.

I ordered fried rice and confirmed that there should be no pork in it. They gave me a beef pho. They then made a fried rice and put pork on top. I returned it and the cook suggested I can just remove the pork. I told them I cannot eat pork and after firmly reiterate it, they took the fried rice back and said they’ll make a new one. They gave me a new one without pork but for some reason, the fried rice is full of chilli which was what i had topped on the side when i gave back the incorrect version to them. I find this strange.

I have had a few crackling pork banh mi from here. I have to say it is improving…considering it’s a Vietnamese classic, you’d think this would be a no brainer. To get soggy pork crackling is criminal, especially from a Vietnamese restaurant. Give it a try. Lovely people, trying to give it a go.

An unassuming bánh mì shop. I needed a cheap eat and was in Leichhardt, so I popped in for a satay chicken roll. The roll was larger than standard and the bread was perfectly crunchy. The fillings were great, but I feel like the distribution was a bit off. I would have liked more of a mix of flavours. Some bites were just lettuce and mayo.
