We had dinner at Pho Luck in Eastwood for the first time and overall had a pleasant experience. Before I even get to the food, I have to say I absolutely love the Chinese name of the restaurant, 越芽灣. It’s a clever play on the well-known song title 月牙灣. They replaced 月 with 越 (Vietnam) and 牙 with 芽 (bean sprout), creating a name that is both relevant to Vietnamese cuisine and memorable. As someone who appreciates good wordplay in shop names, this immediately put a smile on my face. We ordered the Satay Beef Vermicelli Noodle Soup, Crispy Chicken Dry Noodle, Sugar Cane Prawn, an iced lemon tea and a Hong Kong-style iced milk tea. The standout dishes were definitely the noodles. The satay beef vermicelli soup was flavourful, with a rich peanut aroma and very tender beef. My only minor criticism is that it came with very little shredded lettuce. The crispy chicken dry noodle was also excellent, the chicken was juicy and the skin truly lived up to its name, being wonderfully crispy and tasting freshly prepared. The sugar cane prawn was decent, but it didn’t leave a strong impression compared to the other dishes. The drinks were the only disappointment. The menu suggests Hong Kong-style beverages, but they didn’t feel particularly authentic. While some people may appreciate that they aren’t overly sweet, we found them a little too bland. The iced lemon tea lacked the sweetness, tartness and lemon flavour we were expecting, while the milk tea tasted quite watery and didn’t have enough tea flavour. The restaurant was fairly clean, though the dining area felt quite crowded and the atmosphere could be improved. Overall, the food was enjoyable and we would happily return to try more dishes. The noodle dishes alone are worth coming back for, and I’m already curious to see what else is on the menu.
good food not only pho! pho sour is clean and tasty but beef rice noodle must try also. Always come with big portion, lunch can get a drink is good deal
Our family loves bringing the kids to this restaurant—we’re regulars! Beyond their classic rice noodles, the Handmade Beef Balls in Satay Rice Noodles are incredibly delicious. The satay sauce is perfectly balanced, rich without being heavy, and the beef balls are fresh, tender, and bouncy. It’s a hit with the little ones too, making it our go-to spot for a satisfying, kid-friendly meal.
Pho Luck is a hidden gem for Vietnamese food in Eastwood. I didn’t expect much when I first decided to grab a takeaway rare beef and meat ball pho, but it turned out to be a really pleasant surprise. The wait time was reasonable, and the packaging was very professional. Everything was packed neatly and thoughtfully, which made it easy to assemble the pho at home. The ingredients were fresh, especially the rare beef and the herbs. The salad and garnishes were crisp and generous. I also appreciated the extra attention to detail — they included hoisin sauce and a delicious chilli sauce with sliced chilli, which added great flavour to the soup. Overall, a great takeaway experience. I’ll definitely be coming back again. 🍜
Excellent authentic Vietnamese cuisine , we had the signature Pho Combination and Pork chop. The food and the service is exceptional and it’s also BYO at a reasonable $3.00 fee per person ..
